    i noticed. adds to the confusion. not sure why its so expensive.

    truck probably has all the miles and the engine is new i'm assuming.

    Ya I just thought it was interesting, but never would I pay 42k for a tacoma especially a prerunner sr5, especially for only 5-8 more miles per gallon. Neat thought though.

    To be fair the old motor and transmission had 146k miles, not the new one. IIRC they use low mileage components and then completely go through them. Doesn't seem like it's that far off on price either.

    I'd still rather bring a truck to them but... maybe they're hurting, could be good news for those of us who want this done, maybe they'll drop the price. Or I could be off base.

    To be honest, if they replaced the motor with a new unit and also swapped the tranny with a new one, the truck technically does not have those miles on it since sheet metal and frames do not accumulate mileage.

    Maybe not miles but hours of use and wear. It's negligible compared to a eng/trans but...

    Most likely ABC (Anywhere But California)

    EPA isn't going to have a problem with it as long as it meets Federal emissions standards.
    California won't allow it.
