hi yesterday i drove over some good sized washboards and felt a few sharp clunks under floor board drivers side .i crawled under when i got home and did not see any thing really obvious except there seems to b a lot of play where the drivers front axel goes into the diff housing if you shake it by hand it seems to move alot. the right side seems to have some too but very little any help .how are these axels held in? no oil leaking yet . not sure if this is the source of the clunk but somethings not right with this part.. thank you for the help. truck is 2012 dc lb 4x4 20,000 kms.

I'd suspect it's the intermediate steering shaft. Play in the CVs is normal and if the bearings are shot typically you'll end up seeing a leak first. It wouldn't be the cv's regardless it'd be the diff. I'd bet money that's not your issue.
