Wow, this is a long thread. I think it took me a few weeks to read all of it. I do believe that I have one of the Foxfire books, just not sure and can't check from work. My advice, take advantage of all this information on the internet, and download as much info as you can. Then, as you get time, print it all off, and put in binders. I probably have 2-3, 3" binders full of printed off information, from a variety of topics that I believe will be of use to me when the SHTF.
A lot of people store websites to info in their favorites and what not, but this may not always be available to you when you really need it. I consider my binders to be some of the most important preps that I have. The human brain can only store so much information before you start forgetting little details, so a printed hardcopy is great insurance. I would suggest, as others have, Survivalblog.com as a great resource. You can get to an index of articles people have submitted that is very long with good information and broken down by topic. I have printed a lot of this out as well as various other bits and pieces. Do it now, while you still can.

I have a foxfire book somewhere, forgot where I put it. It's the volume where it shows how to make stills.

And now I feel like I have to defend myself and it will most likely get me banned. So be it, I have no control over your choices. And I didn't break any rules here. And I don't have a "political agenda" as one of you mentioned. Maybe you do, therefore you are trying to classify me as having one to dismiss my legitimate comments. Again, your choice.

And I'm sorry you completely misunderstood what I wrote. :( But I don't have any control over how you see the world. The last thing I want to do is talk about politics.

As mentioned earlier, I'm not blind to the fact that politics and everyone/everything involved with that, greatly effect all of our lives and we all need to prepare for said effects. I'm sorry a lot of you can't see that. I didn't "create an elaborate justification". That's ridiculous! And I'm not that smart.

I simply stated the truth and discussed how I am "prepping" for the future based on how these people are shaping the world we live in. It's one part of how I'm preparing to survive the future, natural disasters, economic collapse, etc, etc...

And being debt free is a legitimate survival topic!!! Probably more important than a lot of the topics in this thread. And a topic that is greatly discussed on many of the survival websites along with how politics are shaping our world. I'm not a pioneer here and I don't have an "agenda". Again, ridiculous.

As I said in my other post and since this will most likely be my last post here...good luck to all and God bless America.

    Take care guys and gals.

That one quote is just a sample of the folks who think you can discuss survival without discussing politics. Talking about politics is verboten on TW...so you clearly did something wrong.

You've got 4 days and a PM to think about - If you can't realize that you are in contravention of the rules - then you are better off not posting. When the current ban lifts- Think carefully about what you post. IF it's so important to you to bundle political commentary into your discussion of survival topics - Do us all a favor and find another site.

zombie..you cant go wrong with the Benchmade Griptillian. axis lock. and it comes in two sizes.

the new Benchmade 755MBR uses M390 steel, which is unknown to me. i have seen this knife first hand, and it is an absolute tank!! the lock is bomproof.

my next knife will be a ZT350 or something. i like the tigerblade model.

+1 for benchmade... best lock on the market. I also like my kershaw, but you get what you pay for.

I'd just be afraid of losing it!
I had a pair of spy sun glasses ($135) and I fucking left them at chuck e cheeses  Im not bad about losing things (I promise!) but when it does happen it pisses me off! haha

for my use i dont think a $100+ knife would do anything for me that a $50 knife wouldnt. I do appreciate the advice though

I'll have to check out one of these benchmade knives. I've fell in love with Knives of Alaska. I'm sharpening my cleaver right now on a new soft Arkansas stone,10"x2-1/2". KOA has a line of folders now also.

Not hard, let the blade do the work. Keep honing oil on it all over stone. Try to slowly shave the stone, watch the oil, you'll start shaving oil
Keep oil on stone,if oil gets dirty, wipe It off to keep stone clean.
