Except for the part about that 200 lbs hanging over the front end, not directly over top of the springs. That extra 200 lbs has some extra torque on the suspension. It's like the difference between having 500 lbs in the front of the bed vs. 500 lbs on the hitch.

It is a cantilevered load, still not enough to significantly compress the springs at rest. I might argue it makes no difference, but I would need to make some calculations to compare.

I agree that it is more significant when the whole truck gets bouncing but keep in mind that even the stock springs are 540 #/in which means they would need over 1,000 lbs to compress them an inch and an ARB bumper has a significan't impact on that setup.

540 lb/in springs means it takes 540 lbs to compress it 1 inch, 1080 for 2 inches, etc.

Somewhere I have compression spring formulas.

Correct, 2 springs though. My point was that just looking at the spring rate vs. the weight of the bumper, having that weight cantilevered does make a significant difference in how the front suspension handles the load. The 886 coils will do a good job resisting sagging at rest but you'll be able to tell that you put 200 lbs on the front of the truck.

    Yes, 2 springs.

My point was/is there won't be a significant difference at rest, but you are correct, it will be noticeable when exposed to the various loads created by a rough road, potholes, speed bumps, etc.

You a mech engineer as well?

At least we didn't break out the calculations and fill the thread with numbers :D
