My motor has always had a weird sound when hitting certain rpms around 3000. Its sounds kind of like a a crusty bearing or something or belt? Its hard to explain but it sounds "dry" and only at mid rpm when accelerating

depends how many miles but generally its good to do timing belt with all pulleys and water pump especially if you have had other tensioners blow out allot of times other pullys or tensioners are not far behind.

you can take off the belts and spin the pulleys and check for play but if you where going to do this with timing belt the labor involved would be stupid to not replace all components also this is for 3.0 and 3.4 because the 22-R and 22-re are timing chain.

maybe your viscus fan hub?popular problem on larger diesel engines but theyre not viscus type dont know the failure rating on yotas probly last forever though id look at other pulleys. plugs wires belts fuel filter air filter is good maintenence but wouldnt cause any noises other than belts squeeking

my truck has a interesting sound around 3000 RPM too when I push in clutch basically its the throw out bearing spinning fast as hell its brand new and allways done this so I dont like to push it too far even though automatics seem to shift pretty high RPM's when stomping on it.

I'd def. change the timing belt even tho' we have non interference engines, if your luck is anything like mine it'd fail in the fast lane on a friday afternoon...(traffic)

& a worn serpentine belt can make all kinds of hellish noises slapping around the pulleys too...

Fouillard, we had a weird noise in my son's '99TRD on acceleration. Popped the hood and took a stethoscope length of garden hose to the block to try to pinpoint. It turned out to be a vibrating or collapsing PCV valve hose, again only under acceleration. Strange, that hose was one year new but had gone soft and plump. You could put your finger on the rubber hose and stop the noise. Have never seen the likes of that before.

Good luck with yours! Let us know if you pin that noise down.

Found it! It was the exhaust heat shield behind the motor!

No. I ended up buying my own wires in town and plugs and bought some coils off ebay.
