i have an 05 prerunner in black sand pearl. ive noticed in the last few months that the paint on the roof has started to fade, crack, and cause some small rust from the front all the way to the back, right down the center. has anyone else had paint fade/chip issues? i need to do something before i end up with an unwanted sunroof. i have also found some small spots on my hood that have chipped off down to the metal. any ideas on cheap reliable fixes? i cant afford a whole truck repaint. i love my truck, and dont want her condition to get so far gone that i cant save her. im open to any ideas/suggestions. thanks.

just have the bad areas fixed. you don't have to paint the entire truck. You can have the the roof only painted. A good painter can have the color match perfect. If you weren't on the other side of the country I'd help ya out.

Im sorry to say that black is the worst for heat cracks. If you have black make sure you garage it as much as possible. and wax the hell out of it

If you don't wash your roof thoroughly every time you wash, and wax it maybe once or twice more than normal waxing it will do that. The roof and hood takes the worst beating from the heat. The dirt staying on the forever will eventually eat it away as it did yours. I detailed for 3 years seen this a lot. Try a cutting wax may get some of it out until you decide to paint.
