I know a lot of people run this size on stock trucks. If you are one of them are you happy with this setup? Does it hurt your power or gas mileage much. How is ride and handling compared to stock?

I ran them on my 06 prerunner and I noticed no difference in ride or gas mileage from the stock size.

Had my tires before lift. Lost approx 1 MPG, but ride was better if anything with no rubbing. Stock tires are not so good.

I've been contemplating this as well and researching it too.

My main concerns are possible VSC and vibration issues; it seems difficult to pin down how likely you are to have problems simply with 265's on stock rims since so many people who do also run different wheels/lifts/Billsteins with the 265's.

Many polls have been done reference vibes/VSC problems, especially on the 2009+ trucks, but none that I've seen address ONLY a slightly larger tire upgrade.

I ran that size with no lift for a while. No problems. No noticeable power loss, and only a slight negligible loss in MPG. It also depends on what load range you go with/weight of the tire. If you get E rated, they'll be heavy and you'll lose some MPG - stick to C rated or even P rated if you never tow. I have D rated though and they are fine. Just a bit stiff.

1" lift from 3rd gen suspension, 265/75/16 ATs
    265/75/16 D rated AT's with 4.5bs 16" wheels on stock TRD suspension.

    • Had to loose front mudflaps. (due to 4.5bs wheels, stock wheels should be fine)
    • 0-1 mpg loss
    • very slight power loss (not worth mentioning really or worth worrying about)

I ran those for a couple years. I had no noticeable loss in power or ride quality. If anything, the ride quality was a bit better. The MPG loss was negligible, however, you must keep in mind that a 265/75 is taller than a 265/70. There probably wasn't any loss at all. A larger diameter tire will change the odometer reading. Technically, with a taller tire, it would depend on driving conditions. Better highway MPG, worse city MPG.

Got my 265/75/16 duratracs before my lift. Lost an mpg or 2 when they were brand new. Now with 25k on them u can get 20mpg again highway and that's with a lift now. Had nearly 21 one tank over the summer. Ride will differ based on load range and how aggressive a tire you get.

Loss of gas mileage is going to be due to more aggressive tread or a heavier load rating more so than the slightly larger diameter. Depends on what tire you get entirely.

True, but circumference of the tire= 2*3.14*radius of the tire. Odometer reading directly relates to the circumference. So you actually get 13.5(3.3%) less revolutions per mile traveled. This will directly correlate to the calculated MPG.

If you travel 250 miles on stock tires, your tires will revolve 102362 times. On tires with the larger diameter, your tires will rotate 98990 times. Your odometer measures mileage by wheel spin. Since the new wheels spin less over the same- distance traveled, your odometer will tell you that you only traveled 241.75 miles. If you use this number to calculate your gas mileage then it will be less.

Without calibration for the larger tire size, this would be the calculater MPG for a 15 gal fill up after 250 miles of travel on odometer:

250/15= 16.67 MPG for stock tires

    241.75/15=16.12 MPG for larger tires

It's not a lot, but if we are talking about the difference of 1 MPG calculated, this should be taken into account.

According to my GPS my speedometer reads a little faster than my true speed. A larger tire should correct this to some degree.

I was mostly concerned about it killing the handling so that it feels tippy. I had that happen when I went with bigger tires on a Ford Explorer one time.

Any rubbing at full lock when having 265/75/16 tires? I'm towing a travel trailer and using a WDH, I have to turn the wheel to full lock to get into some tight campsites. I have stock 06 prerunner long bed DC.
