Hello Tacoma World. I've had my first tacoma for a few months now. 05 access cab trd off road. I joined because of the endless info I've found here so far. Right now I'm looking to change my wheels/tires. Found a lot of stuff about it so far but I'm more than happy to hear anyones thoughts. I think I'm going to for pro comp steel 16" (maybe 16x8), currently have 265/75/16. I'd like to go up to the 285/75/16 but it seems like most people are saying they rub without a lift and I'm not sure I'm in for all that cash right now. Anyway, thats where I'm at. Like I said I've found a lot of info on here but if anyone has specific thoughts I welcome them

Yes 285s will rub with or without a lift. I wouldn't put them on until after the lift and you will need 4.5" BS on wheels to clear your UCAs with 285s.

This is really helpful as I still wasn't sure on backspace. I think my stock wheels are 5.25. It seems like being a budget I may go buy myself some pro comp steel wheels with a 4.5" backspace, and get some new 265's for winter. Maybe next year I can lift and go up to 285's then.

so I went to my local 4 wheel parts today to buy the wheels I wanted. originally thinking I wanted black steel but I thought instead to go with the pro comp alloy wheels 16x8. the guy said his system says that the calipers will rub on my taco. So the next similar wheel was the Black Rock Yuma alloy. he called the company because the system said there was a fitment issue, but they claim it should be fine. Anyone have experience with this, or know a wheel thats comparable you like that fits?
