    Hey,

I got an 05 regular cab. Its got just over 100k on it. it runs great and everything seems to be working fine except for this noise i'm hearing when I release the clutch. It sounds like a low grinding and it stops as soon as I push the clutch in. This is when I'm sitting at idle. When I'm actually moving I don't notice anything. But when I sit at a light or something with my foot off the clutch, Im hearing this constant grinding/vibrating noise. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks in advance.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
This just started with mine. I'm going to try a new serpentine belt; I think the engine freewheels faster with the clutch in (which makes my worn belt slip and NOT make noise) I'm hoping the noise is low tension on the idler pulley but I could be wrong.

Sounds like a throw out bearing going bad.

throw out bearing. i'v never driven anything that didn't make some noises in neutral either from the bearing or from the input shaft itself. as long as its not an obviously bad noise (and i mean no question), it is probly alright

an extreme case could be a worn input shaft and/or the bearings that support it.
when was your last trans oil change? if its been a while, new oil could help

i got from your post that your tranny is noisy in neutral, right?

i have the same problem and dont know how to go about fixing this. my truck makes a really loud chirping/grinding/squeking/rusty type sound , and when i press the clutch at a certain pressure it will mute it. i can also feel something in the pedal when i press, almost like a spinning feeling on the pedal. i dont know whether to change the whole clutch or order the throwout bearing from PDM. i've done so much research on this and dont want to waste money for the noise to come back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

somebody also told me they were filing a lawsuit against toyota for this manufacture defect. mine is at 80,000 miles but should be fixed at no charge for this common problem

Right, it is noisy in neutral and then once I push the clutch in it quiets down. It seems to get worse the longer I drive. I'm wondering if the fluid is just needing to be replaced.

yea if its older than 30,000 miles it couldn't hurt to change it
