engine thicking when cold weather

    09 tacoma 2.7 4x4 access cab
    my 2009 4cyl tacoma has a thicking noise when weather is cold and engine has reach operating temperature. dealer says its the evap valve and its normal. Has anyone else experienced this noise.

    I am guessing you mean "ticking" noise and not "thicking", which is not a real word. Your dealer is correct on the "ticking" noise. I live in cold, cold Western Canada where it is -16 Celsius this morning. The ticking is there for a reason and will come and go as needed. Nothing to worry about. There will be other "ticking" noises in other parts of the truck as it heats up in the cold and then cools down as metal, glass and plastic parts expand and contract.

    I'm going to assume you mean "ticking" and not thicking. Yes it's normal. There is a valve on the drivers side top of the engine that constantly ticks and there isn't anything you can do about it.
