static balance, at home, by hand...

    bilstein set at 1.75, Racho 5000 rear with 4 leaf kit, floor mats, high lift jack, pull hook in hitch, bed rail corner braces, severe duty brake pads and devil horns on the grill....
    Today I had the great pleasure of getting the shake out of my steering wheel by rebalancing my two front tires (studded snows)...I think my local tire shop has a bad machine:) They tended to vibrate the steering wheel at 50-60 mph.

    I had to add 2-3 ounces of lead per tire for the static balance, using the glue on weights. I guess it is time to buy some rim clamp wheel weights:)

    Anyone else here static balance their tires at home? It took me less time than it would to drive to the nearest tires shop and back. I keep the glue on weights in stock for motorcycles and the tire balancer was inexpensive at harbor freight.
