front rancho shocks and 2.5" lift mod.

I recently purchased 9000 series rancho shocks and a 2.5" lift for my tacoma. Rear went on with ease. Front is giving me issues. Have all finished except for the bottom of the shock will not fit. Need another inch of clearance to get it to bolt in. Some expert experience would be appreciated. If I was home I would have pics up, both of the mechanical issues and of my truck who is more loyal and dependable than any ex girlfriend I ever had.
