    Rogue,
From what I understand, the smaller towns wouldn't be much of a 'target'. NY, LA and big cities like that would be #1 on a turd's terrorist list.

BTW, my younger brother is sort of a 'small scale prepper', he's actually a 13 year state trooper with the THP and he's got no big worries about shit like this where he lives.

He lived in Murfreesbro for a long while, now he's in Whitehouse.

A Faraday cage does not "dissipate" the current from electromagnetic radiation unless it is grounded. A ground-isolated cage constructed of 2-3 isolated layers of 30ga copper mesh will protect the interior from just about any level of electromagnetic pulse.

Doubtful. A mesh that frail would melt from skin effect alone.

Look, as we established, you're not trying to protect a free floating satellite in space - most of which aren't hardened enough against a HANE, anyway - and the ones that are have far more substantial shielding than what you've suggested. You're trying to protect an automobile in atmosphere, and that will limit your choices.

Since it's gotta rest on something, it needs to be substantial enough to deal with the initial high energy pulse. And then there are dielectric (capacitive) and Bremsstrahlung effects to consider, too.

Actually, the more I think about it. The best (cost efficient) thing to do is get a bat cave and put the truck in that. E/M effects tend to attenuate well in earth, especially the higher frequency ones that would be harmful to electronics.

Park underground. The farther, the better. Problem solved.

Haha I'm sure. Probably not too many windows though. Realtor: "It's got a lovely view of concrete and rock".

On the TV show Preppers one of the people has one of those. He has something like 20,000 square feet and 40 acres for his home and paid $40,000. I think it would be sweet.
