I have standard butt connectors, heat shrink, and wire loom to cover the connections from my bed light LED strip (one +, one - connection total). It will be under the bed rail but I don't have a tonneou cover or topper to keep it 100% dry from the rain. (plans to get a Tonn. cover soon though.)

Would this be acceptable for waterproofing the connections or should I pay for the expensive waterproof butt connectors? Option one would be nice mainly because I already have these supplies.

    Thanks for any insight folks.

When I water proofed my LED lights, I went to a message board used by boaters and they recommend Liquid Tape. I was able to get the liquid tape at Lowes, and before you heat shrink the connectors you paint the stuff all over and let it dry for what they called 100% waterproofing. I can say I haven't had any problems with my connections yet.

Great, thanks. I'll check into this. Seems feasible. ;)
