Remote Start Wiring Pictorial

Yesterday i had a local guy install a python 580 for me. He made this thread on the12volt.com i've copied it here. I've seen a lot of question here lately on remote starters and installs. I've done a lot of custom audio in the past but didn't want to mess with a remote start on my truck the first time around by myself. This should help people looking for what specific wires and connectors they will need to hook up to do do this install. FYI the python 580 is the same as the viper 5301. This guy has been doing installs for 7 years and this took about 4 hours to compelete start to finish, we spent a little bit of time shooting the shit but just saying even for a professional, installed, this is no quick job.

Vehicle: 2010 Toyota Tacoma Automatic
Starter: Python 580
Bypass: Key-Override-All (Fortin)

Disassembly:
- Remove Door sill panel and driver kick panel

- Pop off small plastic "door" on right side of knee bolster and remove (2) 10mm bolts on either side of bolster

- Remove (3) 10mm bolts on metal support bracket. Lift up and out to remove bracket.

- Remove (2) Phillips head screws behind steering wheel and remove lower steering column plastic.

Installation:
- Main ignition harness at ignition switch

- Parking lights (-) at light switch

- Brake switch and horn at front of fuse panel

Thank you for this! I also have a 2010 Tacoma and I am wondering how to tell whether or not I need a Bypass. If I do I will buy the same one you did, it only requires 1 key and I only have 1! Haha!

The red flashing car with the key inside it, next to the clock, if you have this flashing light you will need a bypass. There is also a dot on your key or a G on the key for some years then you have the immobilizer and will need a bypass for the remote start.

 

I had always wondered what that was. Now that I know, I need to figure out what bypass to purchase. Hopefully it will work in -50 and it will be easy to install! I don't need anything making this more complicated than it already is. Which is very complicated considering my lack of experience in this area.

I like the looks of the key override all. Anything I need to know before buying one? I have the dot key, not the G. It comes preloaded for the Taco?

 

I used the Xpress PKALL in my 06. It was the easiest part of the install. The Fortin and the PKALL look to be identical if not the exact same with different labels on them.

I would get one that is already flashed if ordering online and one that does not require a key to stay in the truck to work.
