    Hello Tacoma Owners

I am wondering if anyone has "painted" their dash and if so, what worked best. I have a 2010 Tacoma TRD, OEM black coloured dash. I need to re-paint a small section of the dash right by the drivers side A-pillar (I scuffed the black colour off of it  ) and want to re-paint it in the spring. I need to know the actual colour of the dash (I think it is flat black). Anyone know the actual colour or the colour code? I also want to know what to use paint-wise to match it with the rest of the dash. I see Dupli-color vinyl and plastic paint but I've also heard of Krylon and SEM paint. I have no clue what to buy and I am trying to keep it simple. I desperately want to get the dash back to the way it was before I scuffed off the original colour. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You aren't going to be able to match the factory color and texture.

VHT makes a very good interior paint in the "standard" colors... tan, gray, charcoal, and black, but it is a VERY flat finish and doesn't have that mellow/satin sheen that the factory finish has... and the color will be off slightly.

Krylon Fusion is a good plastic paint, but you are pretty limited in color selection.
Most colors aren't available in flat, and I don't think any are available in a satin.

There is a TSB for paint falling off on 2010 tacoma's

Could try and claim it possibly but it depends if it looks like it was caused by human error or crappy toyota parts.

Hope you get it, more power to ya for all the people they turn away with real problems.

    hey man,
i used to use SEM paint a lot. I think it has more of a factory durability. As said before you more than likely won't find the exact color. I guess that means you are doing the whole dash if Toyota falls through on the TSB. Prep well, use a primer, and spray away. Don't use to much if you want to retain the factory texture.

    Alternatively....

My interior, A-Pillars, and roof are gray.
I have plans to simply upholster the black top part of the dash in grey vinyl.

The dash on my '03 Tundra matched the interior, but on the Tacoma, the upper dash doesn't.

Thanks to those who responded to me about dash painting options. I ended up taking it to an Auto Body repair centre and they were able to dye-match and spray the small dash area. It looks good and the cost was minimal. :)
