    Simply put, no.

Many rifles and handguns use the same rounds.A.223 bolt gun is not uncommon at all, neither is a 9mm rifle.

this, ALL news stations have a tendency of making stuff evil, dramatic, ect. and it helps there ratings and it helps anti- so and so groups get what they want done.

So , I'm no super sleuth here , but wouldn't it be fairly easy to determine what weapon of the two was used ?

No they wouldn't, you would be able to tell the difference.

The problem I'm having is I've heard different reports. I have absolutely no clue what he used and am not speculating.

So , unless there is some elaborate conspiricy to suggest the wrong gun was used , and covered up by all the investigating authorities , is it somehow unreasonable to believe it when it is repoted that the weapon used was the rifle ?

or the reporters got the wrong info (thats never happened before  ) and the cops didn't bother to correct them because they're busy right now.

mind you i'm not saying that he used or didn't use a AR rifle, my point is that media isn't all that accurate.

EDIT: and no, it's not unreasonable to believe that the weapon used was the rifle.

Was just going to post the same pic.

No one is saying conspiracy just misinformation to further their specific agenda. Just like the example i gave a few posts back.

#10 is a 9mm which I believe is what he had in pistol, if not a .40 which is roughly the same size

A 5.56 or .223 which is what most AR's are is roughly the size of a AA battery in length. So as you can see, a blind person could pick up a casing and tell the difference.
Most rifle rounds of a higher caliber do not work in a pistol unless its a 9mm, which would be your MP 5's, Tac-9's (this is really a pistol not a rifle), Uzi(this is refered to as a machine pistol), etc. Most 9mm rifles are highly specialized and not really used by the civilian population.

I don't know that anyone in the thread is saying for sure that he didn't use an AR,.just that there are conflicting reports. The media had already given a ton of wrong info so far so why believe them? Their interest is viewership which means drama not facts.

Or the beretta, or the 9mm ARs, or any other number of 9mm rifles that do exist and are quite popular in the civilian market

If you were to compare the coverage of Travon Martin. 2 completely different crimes happened. Most ppl in the media dont have a clue about anything they are covering, they need ratings and will make up crap. It happens all the time.

Not saying it is a conspiracy, most likey just idiot reporters that have no problem shoving a mic in a 6 yr olds face and asking her how she felt when her friends died.

Again , while I appreciate your input , and quite honestly I am not a member of the law enforcement community , would it not be some forensic team's job to accurately document things like spent casings ?
