Rear Spring TSB $600 good deal or no??

My dealer says the parts are $1100+ and they will cover the parts if I pay the labor charge which is $642.00. So how I understood it was over $1600 to have it fixed and I am responsible for $642.00

 

Hey bud. You should check out wheelers Offroad. They sell stock leaf packs now that offer great payload. Allpro & OME are to give lift with a payload. It sounds like you want to stay stock. And I'd put the extra money in to bilstein 5100s. But that price from the dealer isn't bad for parts & labor. I think you could spend a little more & it will last a lot longer

 

If I don't stay stock and go with the Allpro 3" leafpack and the height adjustable 5100s how is the ride? And am I gonna have to purchase anything else? Meaning is the front going to be lower than the rear? Just want to get my parts list going.

Thanks, tacoman I have been searching for days actually weeks, there is a TON of info on her, it can be overwhelming. This topic for me has gone from a TSB question to possibly a 3" lift. $600 is a lot of coin these days

 

It can be extremely overwhelming. Trust me, as a broke college student $600 is a fortune. If you are looking into lift kits now, my recommendation is OME (Old Man Emu). Awesome product at a great price IMO.

 

So it's not covered under the TSB, but from the goodness of their heart, they have decided to cover the costs of the parts?

I would get a second opinion on whether you can get the TSB completely covered from another dealership.

It doesn't make any sense to me, but what do I know....

I have the TSB leaf pack, there is no way I would have paid over $600 to have it done. I would have gone aftermarket if I was spending that much $.

 

If you aren't set on lifting your truck, I am sure you could find a near new set of TSB leafs for sale in the classifieds for cheap.

Add a cheap set of airbags and you are set for towing.

Tons of guys lift their near new trucks, so search for a 2011+ pack with low mileage. I am sure you can find a set for under $200, maybe even someone nice enough to just give them free.

My last truck had a new pack and I gave away the stock pack because it was just collecting dust.

Getting ready to have it done on a 2012 now ... when the TSB come out. ... ... I have the 3 spring pack on a 2012 and many have the 4 leaf pack now ...

I had the TSB done for the leaf springs for free. Also did the steering mid-shaft as well. I saw the ticket and the whole thing retailed for $3200.00. I don't know, but they seem to work just fine for me.

 

i would rather spend 435 (shipping included) from wheelers and purchase the OME dakar leaf pack

It's not advertised (at least it wasn't last time I checked) but wheelers also offers an "HD" version of their 1.5" AAL for better hauling capabilities. It's only an extra $10 over the cost of the AAL.

 

Sounds temping to have a "dealer installed" fix. I did it twice with no permenant solution. The last time I had the dealership look at it, they just added grease because it was squeaking... A month or so later I see a broken leaf sticking out the side about three inches from my tire. I went to a local spring shop, they replaced the broken leaf (broken in 2 places) found the other side broken as well. The replaced both main leafs for $250 in about an hour. No problems since. Also, the spring shop guys said they do a few tacomas a month and showed me the 'spacer' that sits between the leafs above the axle. All three breaks in my springs were exactly where these spacers were. This was three years ago in my 2007. No problems since....

Where did you get this price? Emailed Wheelers today its gonna be approx. $130.00 for shipping from Oregon to Florida.

 

thats how much i paid.... oh and still would pay 565 total for a whole new set of a waaayyyy better leaf pack..

 

My 2011 Sport Dbl Cab had squeaky leaf springs and sometime would bottom out hard with a couple of passengers when off-roading. Earnhardt Toyota in Mesa Arizona replaced my Springs for no charge. They were a little "Hard" at first but now I loved them!

 

Has anyone had better traction with AAL...I have Bilstien 5100's, with terra grapplers, on 285's, and my traction in the rain sucks! I am afraid to go up to Tahoe, even with 4x4!

 

Been busy, Thanks everyone for your input. Think I am going with 5100s in the front and Firestone ride-rite air bags in the rear. Hope this will solve my saggy bottom and help with towing my boat.
