im about to buy new wheels and tires, my question is... where can i purchase a new set of TPMS sensors for all the new wheels?

i could take them off the stock off road wheels, but i would like to leave them on there for the winter months so i can swap between the stock wheels and new rims/tires.

im also assuming i wil have to take it to toyota to have the new tpms sensors to work with the truck?

    thanks in advance.

Sometimes people sell them used. I was looking for a set awhile ago, the parts whore contacted me because he had a set for sale, but i ended up not taking them, maybe pm him or post a want to buy thread in the buy/sell/trade section.

DO NOT go to the dealer. They charge around $300 to put a new one on a wheel.
I went to Big O Tires and had one put on for $90.
Anytime you put a different one on your truck, you have to have the truck's computer reset to acknowledge the new ID for that pressure sending unit.
Big O did it no problem.
The truck's TPMS sucks, in that all it does is give you a yellow light when one of the tire's air pressure is off. Even though the sending unit actually sends the exact tire pressure, and the temperature of the tire. And the truck doesn't tell you WHICH tire is sending the out of limits message.
The guys 4 wheeling usually take out the units and put them in a pressurized vessel in the truck so the light doesn't come on. Or the light would be on every time they air down.

Look for a shop that can get you a set of Shrader EZ sensors. If they are using the EZ sensors they can program them and clone your OE sensors ID codes. Then you can swap out your new wheels and OE wheels without having to write new ID's to the BCM. Plus the EZ sensors use the new style snap in TPMS stems so they have less fitment issues with aftermarket wheels.

hmm, I wonder if there are any aftermarket receivers that would pick up the RFI and display that information.

+1.... I would love to have something like that.

To the OP, since you're going to be swapping rims twice a year, you have three options.
1 - Ditch the TPMS and treat your truck like we have for the last 100 years and check your air when you get gas (put the sensors in a "pipe bomb" and keep it under the seat or in a bed storage box)

2 - Buy a 2nd set of sensors for the new rims and

2a - Go to the local tire shop twice a year and have the ECU reprogrammed... might be anywhere from free to $60, but I would imagine that after 2 or 3 times, "free" might turn into $60.

2b - Buy a cloned USB/OBD2 cable and unlocked Toyota software from eBay for about $35. You'll be able to read the serial numbers of the OEM sensors, simply save that information to a file, and input the serial numbers of the new sensors when you swap rims.

If he gets the EZ sensors he can clone the OE sensors and not have to reprogram when he switches out the wheels. Just do the relearn in the owners manual just as if he's done a rotation. Plus the EZ sensors are cheaper than OE.

    Make that 3 options :D

Seriously... If this thing works, it is the perfect solution for those who change their wheels for winter.

It works Schrader is the number one supplier of OE sensors to Ford, GM and many others. Also Bartec designs and builds what the OE's use to program TPMS on the assembly lines.
