Build thread of my 2003 Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab 4x4 SR5/TRD Off Road Edition. Bought it on December 21st 2012 with 119,000 miles. Now has just over 132,000 miles.

Plans for this will to eventually have full mid-travel with great ride quality for off road trips as well as on the highway for long periods of time. Will also be a camping rig with full camping gear and trail repair gear...

Removed the ARE topper today as well as inserted some foam between the dash and windshield to make it stop squeaking.
Where the bed topper was on the bed of the truck, there were some gouges in the paint, so I'm going to get some Duplicolor bedliner or something to paint the rails of the bed. Unless somebody recommend a better type of bedliner in a can.

Painted some Rustoleum bedliner on the driver side bed rail yesterday, didn't have time to paint both sides. Got some tools for Christmas and enough money to buy a toolbox tomorrow!

Spent all day looking for a toolbox today, but nobody carries any that will fit in my truck in black...

Well I've been a little slow on updating this... So far I've painted both bed rails with Rustoleum bedliner and still can't find a black tool box to fit my truck, except for the skinny 12 inch wide ones. I sold the camper shell to a friend of mine, and I got payed all the extra money that the military owed me in my last paycheck, so it looks like a lift is in the very near future! :) I just have to wait until I go back to my base and see what tools and other things the garage on the base supplies.

Got my truck back from Toyota yesterday after having them replace the timing belt and water pump. I also finally found a black tool box that would fit in my truck, although it was a little pricey....
Took some pics of the truck as well, just got and instagram and I think I'm addicted... Haha

I haven't used the locker too much, but I can definitely tell a difference when I get a tire in the air and the truck is still pulling by itself. I have yet to do the 2lo locker mod, I can't wait to test that!

As for painting the fenders, I want to use Rustoleum bed liner since I plan to paint the whole lower quarter of the truck in it. I'm just waiting to see how well it holds up on my bed rails and whether or not it fades much.

I just want to see how much of a difference a locker makes. But I can see how it's more something to play around with than use.

The only thing is I'm not sure how much I'll ever get to drive off road at all when I go back to Missouri....

Yeah, true. I just don't want to buy all these parts to set it up for off road and then never be able to use it.

Hmm, I'm really wanting to do something to my truck this weekend... I plan on dong the grey wire mod and extending the antenna for my keyless entry.

I'm debating on whether or not to plastidip the bumpers and grille to get rid of most of the chrome. Thinking about tinting my taillights as well. I can't decide if it'll look good or not... Any thoughts?

I'm going to attempt to remove the chrome step bars as well, if I can think of a place to store them!

Yeah I might just plastidip my fenders until I see how good the rustoleum bedliner lasts on the fender rails.

But I still have to figure out where to put the steps until I can sell them! Haha

The closest Toyota dealership is 40 miles away... Haha so I'll probably go buy some of that back to black cleaner and buy some clips later. I thought you painted your fenders green like your truck?

Man your truck looks great! I'll see what type of clips I need and then order some, for now I'll just go buy some back to black, wash the truck really good, and then plastidip the bumpers and grille.

Sense we almost have the same truck i'm going to watch this thread... I'm planing on changing up my truck, but for now i'm just doing all the mantinace. I fininshed up the timing belt, water pump plugs, wires, oil and fuel filter last weekend this weekend will be Amsoil in all the gear cases.

love the black tool box you got ... I like the one on my truck but wish it was black... I'm going to change it ... don't know if I'm going to paint it powder it or just sell it and get a black one.
