Significant severe weather threat from the afternoon of 12/25 through early AM 12/26.

    • Time - Beginning as early as 2PM 12/25 through 3AM 12/26
    • Threats - Tornadoes, damaging straight line winds, and large hail
    • Location - Central AL, greatest threat southwest of a line connecting T-town and Montgomery

Some of you may or may not know that I'm a ham radio nerd, and that as part of that I've gotten interested in storm spotting. I got my Skywarn spotter cert a little over a year ago, and since then I've started keeping tabs on the NWS - BMX page and the AL weather blog. The multimedia briefing is a good at-a-glance way to get updates on what's coming.

Hopefully this will go by without much ruckus, but it is something that has been getting a lot of attention from the NWS, more than the usual, "there's a thunderstorm coming."

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Festivus, Kwanzaa, or had a Shag Sameach Chanukah a couple weeks ago.

Yes, but a 4x4 swap on a second gen = twice the price of a first gen swap :p

I wish it was salary. Unfortunately it's an up and down paycheck in the game of contracting work.

jw. but how is it twice the price of a 1st gen???? get you a t-case with a stick, doesn't have to be electronic and go to a junk yard and pull the front diff, cv's, buy some maual hubs, or pull the ones out of a junk yard. then BAM 2nd gen 4x4 swap. Plus, he does have a point there. You coulda had a 4x4 swap w/all the money in that thing!!!! lol. I am sure the lift and detroit locker woulda payed for the t-case and front diff.

well, I never said a junk yard 4x4 swap :p

I was talking about a true second gen 4x4 swap, with all the electronics and everything. It was in the plans while I had the truck though. Was planning on an FJ twin stick T Case. Which I found to be just as, if not more, expensive then the stock one for the 2.7l 4x4's.

One or two things modded... Check out the build thread
    yes, light racing UCA's

not to mention unless you drastically modify the wire harness drastically(for an 09+) the truck aint gonna wanna go(to put it plain) i believe the easiest 2nd gens to do it to would be 05-08 but that is just my impression. but then like dave said you get into the expense of 2nd gen stuff(that actually works and will make a running truck) and 2nd gens arent not quite as popular in the junkyards and such yet(not the ones i have connections with at least) so you are back to trying to find parts in bst places like here or fleabay or the such. and ask kyle how that goes on buying just an fj t-case, because that is what you are gonna need if you dont plan on getting a taco 4x4 wire harnes and plugging in(actuators arent gonna engage themselves) i would say the only reasonably priced part on the entire project would be new cv's but you never know maybe a person could luck up. i havent looked into because i took the easy way out and just trading for a 4x4.

I have done a few SAS swaps on different trucks before, and yes, it all depends on the quality of the job. If you want it to work and look professional, then a newer vehicle SAS swap would be much more expensive. As mentioned you have to deal with all the electronics and such. You don't want to have to deal with a bunch of codes and warning lights after the job is done.

Have only ever seen 1 for sale. It had factory lockers front and rear. Guy wanted 6k for It. Wish I had the money.
