The spare is under the van, centered under the drivers and passengers seat. You have to use a crank inside the van to lower the tire to the ground. Then reach under the van and pull the thing out from under it. On our van, a cargo work van, they installed a steel center console that interferes with the hole that you have to crank the tire down. It took me 45 minutes to get the spare tire out on the side of I-95 with the passenger side right up against the guard rail. Dumb ass design.

Good Lord, holy horror show Batman..sounds pretty stupid to have it that far up in the first place.

I don't know the layout of those well but jeez it should be possible to put it in the side well or floor.

    ^It is quite horrible:

    - Between the dead rear axle and stow-and-go seats, there is no additional underfloor storage for the passenger variants of the Caravan.
    - Can't put the spare in one of the sliding doors because of the roll-down windows.
    - Can't put the spare in the rear liftgate because it would add too much weight.
    - Chrysler could've gone with either run-flat tires like the RAV4 Sport or a pump-and-sealant kit like the plug-in Prius (cheaper, lighter but less reliable).
    - For the cargo van variant that has no 2nd- and 3rd-row seats, Chrysler should have moved the spare into the 3rd-row seat well. This would have also allowed enough space for a full-size spare, as the compact spare probably isn't rated for the van's GVWR.
