Shitty floor mats...

So I got the recalls taken care of on my 08 prerunner, and the floor mats they traded out suck monkey balls. The water just end up right on the floor.

Anyway I can't afford the weathertechs yet, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for protecting the carpet from dirt and stains.
I was thinking of towels, but not sure if they will really work that well. Anyone?

 

You could always put plastic and tape it to the floor until you can get some weathertechs. A buddy of mine does this to save the carpets from the crap that comes in from the outside elements.

They have plastic that is adhesive on the back, it is used to save floors at jobsites.

It is nice and thick. Not sure if they sell it in small quantities. I have a large roll and used it one of my cars I was keeping nice.

It worked great. No salt stains on the black carpet.
