Looking for a set of take off rims.
Was looking new but for mud and snow tires for hunting season I was thinking that I could pick up a used set.

With the TPS the cost is high for replacment non factory rims, was just looking for a used set of take off, tires good or bad are no problem, even found one set with the TPS on the steel rims/no tires, for a deal.

Looking for info on them, is ther a way to test the TSP, does it have a Battery in it, what to look for on a bad one, way to tell if the tires are mounted?
Does it need to be programed to the truck to work?

What I'm getting at is if I say throw the rims in the truck with no tires, should my light show no/low air pressure on my dash?
Do I need to program or is there a time they run like x hrs after low pressure then reset. The rims with tires, can I let air out and it say low on my dash.

In short it would be nice to know what to look for so I don't get stuck with bad TPS.

I don't want to pull the factory tires and pay the extra then remount.
I need road tires for long trips, mud tires for hunting.
Can't stand the tire noise on a 6-9hr trip.

    Thanks

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
They need programmed to the TPMS ECU in the truck. The reprogramming will need performed every time you switch wheels if you wish for the TPMS system to work. There is no way to visually check them unless a battery has split (happened to mine).

run them by a dealer...they can scan them and tell you if they are good or not..then if you install them they will have to be initialized by the dealer for them to work on your truck.
