Help with a math problem!!

Working on this math problem for too long, so I'm going to see if TW can help me out.

Here goes...

If you started a team in January 2013 and added a player every month, starting in February for the remaining 11 months and each of the new team members would do the same for the remaining months. How many team members would you have in December 2013?

I have a few different ways of doing this and they are all giving me way different answers.

1+1+2+8+16+32+64+128+356+712+1424+2848=5592
alredy found a problem, should be a 4 in there before the 8

We kind of did the same thing, but didn't add them. we doubled every month 1, 2, 4, ect and got 2048.

 

Jan=1, Feb=2, Mar=4, Apr=8, May=16, Jun=32, Jul=64, Aug=128, Sept=256, Oct=512, Nov=1024, Dec=2048. But that is if we did it right. Then we thought, do we just add 11+10+9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1... since the first person can have 11, the second can have 10, the third will have 9.... ect. But then that doesn't seem right either.

 

Feb 1
Mar 1 new + 1 your player added= 3
April 1 new + 3 your players added = 7
May 1 new + 7 your players added = 15
Jun 1 new + 15 your players added = 31
July 1 new + 31 your players added = 63
Aug 1 new +63 your players added = 127
Sep 1 new + 127 your players added = 255
Oct 1 new + 255 your players added = 511
Nov 1 new + 511 your players added = 1023
Dec 1 new + 1023 your players added = 2047

That's what we were thinking but we counted the first person in January so the total would be 2048

I was unclear on January. By the way it was worded, sounds like it starts in February.
