Looking to replace front brake pads and rotors. I would prefer to upgrade a bit and get lighter rotors that can cool faster and pads that grip better. I'm ok if the pads don't last as long as OEM. Any suggestions?

Good price for pads and rotors, especially with free shipping. Unless someone has a better suggestion, I'll get those. Thanks!

Don't do it! When it comes to brakes, I am hesitant to use the cheapest products. And our trucks don't need drilled rotors, unless you race, and if you did, you wouldn't want these.
    http://g35driver.com/forums/v36-bra...tive-ebay-drilled-slotted-rotor-review-3.html

"The downside of using drilled rotors on your vehicle is that all of those holes tend to weaken the rotors -- just like punching holes in the wall of a house would weaken the wall. After repeated stressful driving, the rotors can even crack. "
    http://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-parts/brakes/brake-parts/brake-rotors1.htm

I have about 60K on EBC dimpled rotors. They are starting to shake ever so slightly at 50+mph but they still brake good and they are not eating my brake pads as slotted rotors tend to do.

Is that $173 for one rotor? Ouch

I tow a boat over the infamous Teton Pass(10% grade for 6 miles) in the summer. I use Powerstop slotted and drilled rotors .Got both rotors and pads for $200 or so. They work great and have been for 3 summers.

As far as brake pads go I have used Akebono ACT series pads for my truck. (Akebono makes the OEM brake pads for Toyota as well as other manufacturers OEM pads) I have had very good luck with these, no noise and minimal brake dust. Just my .02

House facades (brick/ sheetrock) are not load bearing, so drill away they won't be weakened unless you start cutting out the studs.

Drilled and or slotted/dimpled rotors really only offer bling for a street vehicle and are more prone to cracking. Worst case, cheap drilled rotors might have drilled through support ribs. Cooling faster also means they heat up faster (less thermal mass) so they will fade easier. Light weight rotors assemblies come from a two piece rotor with a light weight hub. A little less unsprung mass but nothing you'll notice in a heavy street truck

Real braking improvement comes from the pads. Get some Hawk LTS pads and call it a day. Replacement blank rotors if yours are shot. SS lines give more feel (but no more "power") if you want to spring for them.

Hawk lts and brembo BLANK rotors.

Slots may cause pulsing and may shorten pad life......drilled are prone to cracking

I upgraded my 05 with akebono act pads and centric rotors. Huge difference.
Planning to get akebonos and brembo rotors from tirerack.com for my 10 Pre (good reviews).
    Later
