Derale or Hayden Trans cooler?

I am purchasing a trans cooler for my 02 PreRunner. I was hoping somebody could share their experiences and advice on which one is best fitted for the Tacomas. Is one any better than the other? Thanks

 

As long as you stay with one of the better brands (B&M, Hayden, DeRaile) you will be good.

I would suggest making a cardboard cutout of the one you finally decide on and see how it fits before ordering it.

 

Thanks. I am leaning towards the DeRaile because of the reviews they have gotten on etrailer and Amazon. They also seem to provide quite the customer service with technical support so if issues arise along the way, I know they will be there to help.

 

I went with B&M and used aluminum "L" brackets to mount it.

 

NIce photo AlphaEcho, thanks! I haven't purchased one yet so B&M is still an option especially if people like yourself are willing to share their experience. My 02 and your 04 should be an almost identical install. How involved was your insall, particulary mounting with the L brackets. I assume they are more secure than the zip ties and that is why you used them? Did most the provided materials work for you? How was the grill removal? Was the bumper removal required because of using L brackets? Thanks.

 

I used this post as a reference. Instead of making my own spaces as in the post, I picked up some cheap small diameter piping to use as spacers. Yes, I used the brackets mainly for added stabilization and I did remove the bumper just to have some more room working. Hope this helps.
