I purchased the aFe Stage-2 Si with Pro-GUARD 7 filter cold air intake due to its proven track record for working with the MAF and many good opinions on it.

The problem is it will not fit with the air pump in the stock location. After a few iterations I decide to move it back towards the firewall. I tried different locations but this seemed to be the most convenient, I didn't have to modify the wiring, and the brackets were easily fabbed by me. And if I want to reinstall the factory air box, it will be very easy.

The front bracket is just a piece of 3/16x1" flat bar with 3 holes drilled in it. I used the factory studs to bolt to the fender well.

The back bracket is two piece of 1.5" angle iron I welded opposite each other.

The only other items I needed was a 1" piece of heater hose about 6" long and a 90* angle pvc fitting I purchased at lowes. You turn the factory rubber manifold that connects to the air flow sensors 180* and you use 1 of the factory rubber hoses to run from the rubber manifold to the 90* angle fitting.

Oh, I made a clear lid for it too using 1/4" plexi-glass.

Oh, and on my first tank of gas, I saw absolutely no improvement in MPG. It was 20.4 which is about the best I have got before.

Nice, I went and bought the AirAid intake ment for the 12' kinda expensive but it works, I had it open then i put the lid on, i think im going to make a mesh top for it for the summer and then just used the supplied top plate during the winter. I didnt find much of a MPG increase but i did find it picked up a little quicker.

I haven't seen a 2012 CAI yet. Sure they will be coming out.
Had a TRD CAI on my FJ and it did nothing for the gas milage, but sounded good, and probably added a minimal amount of HP.
If you put a mesh screen over the top doesn't that negate having a cold air intake since it is designed to keep warmer engine air out and channel cooler ambient air? That is my understanding of it anyway.
