keyless entry kit

I recently bought a base tacoma acess cab and have gotten sick of not having a keyless entry. It appears that the locks are electronically operated and I was told that I may have the kit installed for a remote. I was told that I could tell by the vin #. My dealer was confused when I asked about this and another dealer said that I could spend 150 for a key and another 150 to program it. Does antone have the real facts?

 

What trim level is your truck? Base? SR5? TRD?

 

You shouldn't need a new key. You'll need a key fob though, it attaches to the key.

What dealer did you go to, Harr Toyota?

 

I bought a base model Tacoma...I believe that the dealer was referring to a key fob but they said key.
