I need your help guys. I've been looking around and just can't make up my mind. I was looking at an OttoNavi or Rosen due to the OEM look. After checking out both web sites I was leaning toward the Rosen. I went to one of the local car stereo shops to get more info on the Rosen. I told the guy what I was looking for an aftermarket stereo with a touch screen but had the OEM look. He didn't even mention the OttoNavi or Rosen but he quoted me a price of $1600 right off the bat. He was talking how the radio would have to be numbered by Toyota and okayed then flashed and installed. He showed me a book with the radio in it and it didn't even look OEM. He also said something like if I could find a company that made a stereo that looked OEM with turn knobs and buttons it would be fiberglass and wouldn't hold up. I talked to some friends of mine about it and they said that shop is full of it. So I'm here begging for some help. If I go after market I want the biggest screen I can get. AM, FM, CD, DVD, MP3, and will work with the aux port and buttons on my steering wheel. I told myself, if I get one I want the satellite radio built in with no other parts to buy. As far as navigation goes, I'm waiting on my cell serves to die so I can go get a Straight Talk Samsung smart phone. I would be able to get my nav from that. As for speakers, I know I want to change everything, even the tweeters, out but what. I'm thinking three ways up front but what can I do in the back doors and with the tweeters. I’m not even thinking about sub behind the back seats. I’m older and don’t want to feel the few brain cells I have left bumping around up there. I know there are some guys on here with some stereo smarts. Please, help me out here.

You wont find one that will work with a factory aux plug unless you modify it. Any big name headunit is compatable with steering wheel controls, about $70 more. Most aftermarket headunits still require a reciever for siriusxm, you can get then as cheap as $10 after rebate from crutchfield. You will either need to use one of those crappy magnetic antennas or buy a lexus shark fin adapter to use the factory xm antenna (if you have one on the roof) thats another $70.

I have the factory satelite antenna. Can I use the factory satelite box with an aftermarket stereo?

I will post up later and try to give you a better answer and give you some input on everything else in your original post. Oh ya a budget would help also in trying to decide what headunit/speakers you should be looking at

Alright so in ganna see what i can come up with for you. Ill go by your requirments of biggest screen, so 7" but that means no knobs, the majority of the controls will be on the touchscreen. You want DVD but no Nav. Sattalite radio compatability, and since your factory aux port wont work i will see if i can find one with a aux port or usb, but it will most likely be in the rear of the headunit with a 7" screen. Steering wheel control compatable.
Then for speakers you want components in the front (woofer+tweeter) coaxials in the rear, no sub and i am guessing no amp? Even tho i would recomend adding an amp.

There ya go, bout $1200 lol. You can go much cheaper with the speakers. Check out *********.com, alot of good info on there about mounting the speakers, crutchfield claims some sizes dont fit when they actually will.
The shark fin adaptor says 2009/2010, im not sure about 2011. Anyway you can ignore all this stuff but i think the pioneer headunit would be a good affordable choice for you http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1308400BH/Pioneer-AVH-P8400BH.html

LOL! Thanks Evan for all the hard work but there's one problem. The shopping carts all empty, lol. The last link to the pioneer headunit @ crutchfield did work, but that's the only one. Budget? I'm not really sure. Might have to piece it together as I go along, if I want to have something really nice. I have learned though you can't put a price on the head unit. I don't want junk for speakers but I'm not looking for a show stopping system either. It's just me most of the time. Very few times do I have the family on board. So you say 7" as big of a screen I can get? Man, I thought I might could get 8. You never said if I could still use the stock satelite receiver system. What about that?

Aw what the hell. Lol. The only other thing in the cart was some infinity kappa components for the front and coaxials for the rear. If you click on accessories for the head unit you can select the wiring for steering wheel controls and the siriusxm reciever. I am pretty sure there is no stock satellite receiver. Toyota gets ya there, they say the trucks are siriusxm ready, but there is no receiver or siriusxm "brain" unless they changed that for 2011. As far a i know 7" is the biggest you can go, i know 2012 can fit 8" alpine makes a perfect fit kit, but it is like $1500 with the headunit. Also if you use crutchfield you will see that they only give you options for 6 1/2 up front and 5 1/4 in the rear. If you use ********* custom adapters you can fit most 6x9 and 6 1/2. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will post here and give you some good ideas for speakers. I still say get an amp even if you are not getting a sub. I still say get a sub tho lol.

I got 6x9 adapters on Ebay (not *********) for about 20 bucks and they work fine..I have Rockford Fosgate's in the front door and they sound killer.

I'm confused. Doesn't your stock system already have most of these features?

I did look at ********* and some of their videos. I learned alot more about what I'm looking for from their how to pick out speakers video. I went by another stereo shop yesterday and again asked about a stereo that had the screen but a OEM look. The guy there was very helpful and didn't try to sell me a bunch of crap. He told me that there were more company's out there than just Ottonavi and Rosen. He said if that's the way I really want to go to wait until about Feb. when all the new stuff would be coming out. But with the knowledge I got from ********* video and talking with the guy at the stereo shop I think I know a little more of what I want. I'm thinking about putting 2 way 6x9's up front and 2 way 6 1/2's in the back. Still need to think about what I want to do with the radio...........oh well. Thanks again for the help.

    There's no bluetooth or DVD.

Did some looking around on Cruch Field last night. I know we have to have a bracket to fit 6x9's but it sucks what they say will fit. I figured I'd go with some Kenwood Excelon KFC-X693 up front and some Kenwood KFC-1694PS in the back. Wha cha think?

make your own adapters (1/2" or 3/4" MDF board) then you can fit anything you want in there.Prefer 3/4" adapters , gives you more depth for speaker so it doesn't hit window when down.

Here are some pics of adapters i made out of 3/4" MDF. The left are the front doors (they are a lot bigger than the rear doors). I bolted them in with small 2" bolts ,washers and knylock nuts. I busted those plastic adapters out of there.

I don't understand. If the hole only houses 6 1/2's, then how can a thicker adapter help?

Try to find some speakers with a higher sensitivity if you plan on not adding an amp. Those 6x9s are 89db @ 1 watt vs these http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DB6...=FFSpeaker_Size|6X9&nvpair=FFBrand|Polk+Audio which are 93db and not much more expensive. Really the best way to pick speakers is to hear them. Best buy doesnt have the best selection but maybe go listen to a few to get an idea.

Edit: if you get those speakers you need to have at least a 1" thick adapter. ********* claims their 1" 6x9 adapter will work up to 3.25" top mount depth. Those polk audios have a 3 3/16" top mounting depth. So your windows will clear the speaker by 1/16

Hey Skully, not sure if you have sub'd to the thread or not but here's what I've been up to lately. Nothing really has been done with the system. I have been focused on a CB. I went by a local CB shop and did alot of research. Told the guy what I've seen on here and what I would like to do. He told me that even if I was willing to do all the wiring it would still be a bad idea to leave the electronics open. He had an old Cobra 21 lying around and peaked, tuned, and put an eco board on it. I got home and decided maybe I've gotten too much of a CB since I already have a Uniden 510. Both are small enough to fit in the center console but I don't know which way I want to go. As for the stereo system, I think I'm going to go with all Pioneer. I've looked at alot of speakers options out there but think I will be happier with the Pioneer. Still kinda in the air as far as the HU is concerned. I'm stuck between the AVH-P4400BH, AVH-X5500BHS, or AVIC-X940BT. I'm leaning more to the AVIC-X940BT because the navigation and there's no telling when I may get a smart phone.
