I can't over how strong and well built our trucks are. Tonight I backed in to a brick mailbox enclosing due to the ridiculous amount of tint on my back windows (bought my 08 used with it already on it) and my truck had virtually no damage (see pictures) the mailbox enclosing however was cracked and looked like it could have been pushed completely over with just a nudge. I also hit a deer last week that I did everything I could to avoid in the wet conditions going about 65mph and had almost no damage besides a slight sagging in the driver side front bumper that is unnoticeable to the untrained eye. Wondering if anybody else has any stories like mine or some that might be quite contrary.

Did something that rarely happens to me. I backed into the side of the garage while backing out. No damage.

I think the reason why a majority of us first bought or began looking at the Tacoma is because of Toyota trucks known reputation for being tough.

I couldn't tell you how many people I've had respond to me telling them I have a Tacoma that "Toyotas are good trucks, you can't kill them".

My wife scraped a metal pole while backing up, and scratched up the flares on my rear fender. She was quite upset, but freaked when she saw that there was virtually no damage after I rubbed out the paint from the pole off the flare with simple cleaner wax.

Got rear ended while waiting for car in front of me to turn, maybe going 1mph. Vehicle behind me was going about 30... See pics

    All I got was this

Bed put a small dent in cab, also spare tire carrier swung up and dented bed a bit...but that's not bad- merely aesthetic..

So I used the insurance money and built this

    Also ordered this

All in all, I'm stoked haha- she totalled herself on me- and I got hooked up

The old Pick-ups were even TOUGHER
Had a 91--MUCH tougher than the 2003--I like the newer one but for tough as shit--the old pick-ups w/the 4cyl 4X4- are tough as shit.
Pulled trees with the old one. Actually pulled the HD hooks off the frame-no truck damage.
Sometimes wish i still had it.
Now i pay someone else to do the dirty work.
    Not a youngster any longer.
    But-will never grow up!!!

I beg to differ actually. Though I have put my truck through more in the last year than many people do in a lifetime.
    -blew a transmission
-threw a harmonic balancer (could have been catastrophic)
    -mangle my steering
Though for some reason I still got it fixed and and wouldnt give it up. Great trucks but not indestructible. Still you have to cross the line to find it on most occasions.

Well, they are reliable. I had a 90 that I bought new and I thought the body was junk... It would dent if someone sneezed at it. I went through three front diffs and it didn't come with a back bumper off the showroom! I ended up rolling it off road at85 k kms so I didn't get a full life out of it. I then got a 89 sb z71 and beat the hell out of it. I think it was a way tougher truck. Only stupid things like light switches and wiper moters broke on that truck until it hit 400k kms. Eventually the engine and tranny and rear end went, but years of drunk nights in the bush never broke a front end part or anything... I still have it but its kinda heavy on the fuel. I now have a 07 dc sb and love it. I have had to replace the front wheel bearings (both sides!) at 105kms and its only been off road lightly babied. Love the truck though but I'm not confident that's it's that"tough", but it sure is purdy!
