Hi all, wife got me the manual pop n lock. I have a 2010 dbl cab prerunner. I have read of problems with the manual one after 3-6 months. Should I trade it for the power one or install it?

I have a manual one and haven't had any problems honestly going through 2 years in Montana. If I were to do it again I'd go power because why not...

What kind of problems have you heard of? Just got one and installed it, didn't know anybody was having issues though.

Some posts on here described a problem with not opening after a few months and also unlocking by itself.

Installed a Pop and Lock 8521 (powered) a few weeks ago. Everything worked fine. Today, I tried to unlock it and heard the actuator work but the gate didn't unlock. Tried to lock and unlock it a few timse and finally got it open. When I uncovered everything, I found that the bolt was interfering with the bracket that it slides in and out of. I put some lube in the areas where the bolt rubs on the bracket and it works fine now. I'm afraid it may get stuck again in the future. Any suggestions?

sounds like an installation adjustment issue to me. I have had mine working for three years now without issue. Every day I lock and unlock several times. Cant steal my tail gate if it's locked shut.:D
