Say what you want, don't cry when you get bitch slapped in real life, these forums are moderated by your make believe friends of your alter (troll) ego.
Thank you for starting this thread,
I want to keep all the outside pollutants out side IE dust, dirt, spores, fumes.
With out constantly resetting the reciruculate button or holding my hand over the button in direct sunlight and squinting to see if the button is activated or deactivated when my eyes should be on the road.

The only time I have this problem is when I adjust the thermostat into the top third of the temperature range of the selection dial,
or when the vent selection dial is in mixed-floor/defrost, or the defrost position.

I notice the windows fog if the A/C is off and the recirc is on, but anytime the A/C is on the windows are dry.

The condenser fins and evap tray will become moldy if they are not allowed to dry with heat and fresh air but this happen eventually and ,
should be addressed periodically by running hot fresh air through the system when ever possible and maintenance of the system with an approved cleaning solution.

I knew a family from the midwest that always ran fresh air inside their vehicle, but their explanation was they were prone to car sickness.
I would say it is a personal preferance and consideration should be made as to whether you want to keep odors from coming inside, or vice versa.

Thanks for posting this. Really tired of not being able to turn on the recirculating air when the guy in from of me is smoking or there is a diesel somewhere ahead.

Anyone know what type of plug Toyota used for this? I wouldn't mind ordering a set of male/female ones and wiring up a switch so it isn't permanently disabled (without dropping the glovebox anyways)

    I understand that.

It is a somewhat helpful thread with relevant information. I'm not asking the op for anything, just saying thanks and seeing if anyone happens to know what kind of connector is used.

So am I reading this mod correctly, it'll lock it to recirculation mode? I want the ability to switch but am tired of it automatically turning off

After a few days of searching, I found this mode from fohlkmann and just completed it on my 2015 dbl cab TRD OR. So far, the easiest way to regain control of air recirc and auto-A/C "features" I've found:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/a-c-on-with-defrost.7160/page-8#post-2395617

A/C still automatically comes on when TEMP control set to MAX A/C (I'm not a fan of this feature, but can live with it) - otherwise A/C does not "self-enable". Recirc button does what you'd expect when you push it and will stay in recirc mode across ignition off/on with the key (biggest win for me).

Was so glad to *finally* find a solution that works for me, just wanted to share the link with this thread so it might be easier for others.

    Thanks fohlkmann

So not sure you’ll see this anytime soon but I’m wondering does this disable the feature when the recirculating air button shuts itself off as the outside temperature drops?

I would say so if the door actuator is physically unplugged there's no way for it to move even if the module wants it to, the light may change state but the door can't move if it's unplugged.
