Don't ask your local dealership about things Toyota may or may not be doing. If they do respond, they are likely full of shit or repeating something they think they might have heard their manager talking about once. Toyota still offers a diesel engine option in most other parts of the world. Diesel engines are generally much less refined but they are built heavier and, as a result, tend to last a lot longer.

Dealer being the key word there. Toyota only sells a diesel in every other part of the world.

I read the diesel option for the Liberty was $10k!!!! It that's what the Cherokee will be I'll pass. Unless I get a yacht to pull. The new V6 is rated at 25mpg on the HW, not sure if thats 4X4 or not, but if so and they get teh city above 18 I might be interested in that for the wife to drive around.

    Indeed.

Quite the WTF at the Jiffy Screw when one of those bastards pulled up out back/in the bay. Worked that gig around the 2005-2006 time frame. Scurry around trying to find someone who stocked the oil filter.

If anything, I hope that it inspires some other manufacturers to start putting some diesels in their vehicles. If they come out with a colorado duramax/allison package, Toyota will have to fix the dam* windshield whistle issue, and or they can put a cummins Allison combo in the tundra and I will stay with them when i unload the 12 TRD sport.

Yeah but it's still a Colorado..lipstick on a pig, dude. Trust me I had one and it was fine till the head went, then the dealer and GM had fun playing ping-pong with me and fibbing to me for months.

I think the Q7 already has a diesel option. Then there's the VW Toureg. 6cyl diesel now but they sold a V10 TDI for awhile.

They do but I think u get in the mid 50's with those 2. A smaller SUV like the q5 would be nice in a diesel.

I wouldn't buy a Chrysler even if they offered free beer for life!

Old technology? Direct injection and turbos that the "Big 3" are claiming as new technology for their gas engines have been in diesels for nearly 20 years.
