It's a paper filter, right? I am doubtful that you can wash it successfully and still have it serve its purpose. I could be wrong.

they are easily and cheaply replaced. The K&N route is great for racing, but terrible for the street.

No. In a pinch, I'll take compressed air to it and blow it out if it looks dirty and I don't have a new one on hand but this isn't really a good practice. Paper air filters should just be discarded when they get dirty and replaced with a new one. If you want a washable filter look into an AFE filter.

And the AFE? Where can I buy it? Better than TRD performance and washable filter?

Amazon or Autoanything.com. I don't know about better than TRD filters but if you want washable, they're a good option. I wouldn't buy K&N but that's just me. I don't think they do as good of a job. You're not going to get any noticable gains out of a filter, just the ability to wash it and reuse it. Personally, I just use OEM paper filters and throw them away when they're spent. I had a TRD filter for a while, didn't notice any gains and got rid of it because I didn't want to deal with washing it.
