Lighter in weight wheels?

I'm looking for some after market wheels and tires for my Taco but not too sure which direction to go. I'd like to put more aggressive tires on black or chrome rims. I'm assuming that lighter wheels would increase fuel efficiency on the Taco while heavier wheels would likely sandbagged the Taco? What are the pros and cons of heavier vs lighter wheels other than (maybe) fuel efficiency ? Any suggestion on light wheels and heavier wheels will be appreciated. Thanks.

 

no doubt a lighter wheel would make your truck feel more athletic.
around here i've read about people noticing the difference after switching from a multi-ply tire like a bfg all-terrain to something with a little less sidewall like a goodyear duratrac. something as much as 8-10 pounds per tire if i do remember correctly which is pretty considerable when you think about it.
it kind of blunders me why tire makers don't readily state the tire weight in the specs.
as for wheels, the only downside to shaving weight is usually a compromise of integrity but we do drive a light duty truck so i'm not sure all the extra weight built into the wheel is even necessary.
