Hey guys I just wanted to send a quick note. I just had a remote start system installed on my Taco.
Its a CompuSTAR system. It comes with 2 remotes and has a range of 1000 ft.
I had talked to the dealership about getting a remote start system installed on my truck and at first they said it wasn't available. Then they told me they had a third party who would do the installation for around $600.

Needless to say I went shopping elsewhere. A local shop called CarSound in Des Moines installed this system for $365.

I have to say that I am very happy with it.

    Just thought I'd share

Is it just remote start or a whole alarm system?

    Just the remote start system.

Sounds like maybe I could have done a little better on the price....
I was just so shocked by this price vs. The stealership price. Oh well, still happy.

I think you got a fair price - from a fellow Des Moines area resident. :)

Lucky that this in not a Taco option the Toyota remotes aren't worth a cra____ my wifes Vensa won't start from 20 feet on a good day. I am very unhappy with it and Toyota doesn't care.

My Viper says it has a 1 mile range. Don't know when I would need that but it works perfectly from a concrete enclosed stairwell on the third floor of my office building.
