Where can u order black lug nuts from? I need some but my local parts store doesn't even carry any. They will be for the stock off road wheels on my 2012. Do they need to be acorn style or what? I don't know much about lug nuts lol. I've heard wheelers have them, and I have done business with them before and it was first rate. It just takes so long for them to come in the mail from the northwest to Mississippi I'm impatient unfortunately

My trd beadlocks specified spline drive due to the smaller bore that the lugs go in. I got 'em at pep boys.

The exterior of the nut is of little significance and mostly preference.
tho' maybe dependent on the size of the wheel's center chunk lug openings.

The tuner type lugs will have a narrower outer diameter
and most sockets (KEY) are of a thinner wall.
The tuner lugs are effectively a bulge nut.

The Acorn type lug nuts removal socket (KEY)
could possibly rub the wheel's lug nut openings when installing
and mar the wheels up some.
This can be avoided using "bulge" type acorn lug nuts.
The outer part of the lug nut is a smaller diameter
and has a step that bulges out at the 60* conical seat.

    Bottom line...
you need a 60* conical seat type lug nut for stock wheels.
The bulge and ET options are dependent of wheel type.

fair prices can be found on ebay...
if you know what yer looking for

    * If you have custom wheels that have a thicker center chunk (lug openings)
you may need to use ET (extended thread) 60" conical seat type L nuts.
^ the extended shank is at the inner side
and designed to offer more thread bite on thicker center chunk wheel lug openings.

This is true for most aftermarket wheels and the base model stock steel wheels.

Stock TRD Off Road aluminum wheels like the ones below need straight-shank lugnuts. Gorilla makes a "clone" black chrome lugnut: http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/GOR73137TBC.htm

for some reason I thought I remember using conical
seat lugs on my '00 Tacoma alloy wheels. :notsure:

But hey... that was more then 10 years ago
but I'm getting old and can't remember for fact.

I do know the later '01-'04 pinwheel alloys used the mag shank type
and that is more common with most alloy type wheels.

    ----------------

    What is annoying...

is that when I google most archives...
people refer to most lug nuts as acorn type lug nuts

Acorn is simply the design of the outer side of the lug nut...
and has nothing to do with its seating specifications.

Smart thing to look at the wheel's lug seat design
to determine what lug should be used.

If it's flat with no taper to the seat...
It's likely a mag shank type lug.

If there's a taper to the lug seat...
it's more probable to be a conical lug nut.

could you link it? i'm stationed in Germany at the moment and don't want to purchase the wrong ones and wait to get them here then return them and wait on another set that's correct. they'll fit the 2013 sport rims?
