Selling the Deaver j59 leaf springs off my truck. They bolt right up to any 1st gen Tacoma 96-04 and provide 1.5" of lift. Ran them for about a year and a half with no issues. Looking to get $400 OBO. Call or text anytime (714)356-2317 -Tyler

Super late post but I just bought some J59's. Do I need to extend my rear break lines for the travel and do I need limit straps?

with a 1.5" lift you probably don't "need" an extended rear brake line but it's better to be safe than sorry. I ran a 2.5" rear lift for a couple years with the stock brake line and had no problems, and I wasn't easy on my truck either. I don't see why you'd need limit straps but that's not really something I'm familiar with.

    eon_blue,
I just installed my Deavers and now the rear sits higher than the front, did you experience with this issue?

I have Dakars, I'm not familiar with Deavers...but it's generally considered normal to have the rear be a little higher than the front by a half inch to an inch or so, known as 'rake'...allows for the bed to sag a bit when carrying weight.

How much higher are we taking here? Do you have any lift up front or is your front stock? My Dakars with an AAL gave me 3" in the rear and my front suspension gives me 2.5" so I'm sitting about a half inch higher in the rear myself.

It's about 1" higher in the rear. I have FOX coilovers. If I adjust them to level things out, will it stiffen my ride? I'm not 100% familiar with coilovers, I've always ad spacers...

I'd only replace the brake lines if they have aged really well and rust is developing, which I have to do.

yes, adjusting the preload on the coilovers to gain ride height will affect the ride...higher you go the stiffer it gets. I wouldn't go over 2.5" in the front, and even that is pushing it...I'd go with 2" and learn to live with the rear being a tad bit higher; it'll level out if you put weight in the bed for trips and such.

Also, keep an eye on your CV angles when you adjust the front coilovers for ride height...after 2" the angles start to get severe and the fins on the boots start to rub, which will eventually cause them to tear and the CVs to fail.

You could always add a diff drop kit but they really don't do much, best way to avoid bad angles on your CVs is to find the sweet spot for ride height. Find a way to fit bigger tires (trimming, cutting, smashing) to gain "true" lift...larger tires are the only real way to gain ground clearance.

They should settel . Put some weight in it and go hit some bumps. Mine are still more like 2.5 over stock.

These are great springs for stock location. I had them on my 1st Tacoma. Very flexy, good lift, i was happy.

    Glws!

What model King shocks are those? How did they do with the j59's?

Those look like the basic OE replacement rear Kings that most places sell for our trucks, good for about 1" of rear lift. Any more lift than that and you risk damaging the shocks, but King does make/sell longer rear shocks for our trucks if you call them and order. They can custom make anything really. I'm not 100% sure but anything else they make for the rear of our trucks may require a shock relocation.

For up to 3" of rear lift using the stock rear shock mounts, the Icon 2.0s are a good choice. I've been running those for a couple years now

Yea called King they can custom build for something crazy like 200-300 extra per shock. The King tech said those shocks could work with the deaver springs, I may do limit straps then just in case.
