Vehicle alarms

There are so many out there it's hard to seperate what's good and what's junk. I'd like to know brands to stay away from and why, (not just because you "heard" it was junk). Looking for experienced installers opinions here.

Since I have a regular cab truck with manual, I don't need a bunch of usless features. I don't want remote start, lock/unlock features, etc...

I am simply looking for a good basic alarm that will deter thieves is all. Recommendations?

Not a professional "installer" but i'll chime in anyway. I have the Viper 1002. Its as you described, basic which is what i wanted too. Whats so nice is the expandability of it as well. I added back up battery, and glass break sensor as well. No false alarms. Paid $280 installed.
