Has anyone dealt with the recall for the steering mechanism on the 2nd gen's.
i just received a letter from Toyota saying my early '09 has been part of the recall but i have only had the truck for about 6 months and have had no issues at all.

do you guys suggest taking it in. the reason i ask is I have a big problem with dealership mechanics [IMG] and have never had any luck with them. My buddy is the only one who i let touch my vehicles but he can't do Toyota warranty work?

They have to replace your spiral cable. When I took mine in, I requested someone that I know to take care of it. No problems.

According to the service manager today, they check to see if the coil needs to be replaced. If so, they'll replace it, otherwise they'll do nothing.
