2013 DCSB Off Road Pyrite Mica

Installed my Nfabs today. I like the bars but they are too far down from the rocker panel for my taste. Has anybody modified the brackets? Thinking I need to cut out maybe 1/2 " out of the drop in the bracket and re weld.
