    Whats up all?
So ive been sitting at my desk searching and reading endless posts about backup cameras.
The wiring seems simple enough and that's not the issue.
There are so many backup camera types I cant choose.
    I don't care if its $8 or $28.
The question is what do you have and does it work?
It doesent have to look like my LED tv at home. I want to see stuff behind me.
Ive been looking at these type
    http://www.amazon.com/Koolertron-Li...kmr0&keywords=pioneer+avh-p1400+backup+camera

But I just started browsing the wireless too.

    Suggestions?
Ill be wiring this to my Pioneer avh-p1400dvd

    Thanks

I have Boyo 375. It works great even in the dark. I have it hooked up to a Kenwood DNX6960. I had it for a couple of years now with no issues even in the winter.

I can post what the video looks like in the dark if you are interested.

I have that koolertron that you posted... its complete garbage. It works as long as the weather doesnt dip below 50 , if its below 50 its just a black screen if its above 50 then its got a 60% chance of working without seeing static in your video feed. I had another by TAOtronics or Tanotronics and it did the same thing but lasted only two weeks. Save your money and buy something good , those cheap cameras arent worth the hassle

I agree, the amount of trouble it takes to wire up the camera it is better to spend a bit more for something decent.
It been -40 on several occasions and my camera has worked fine.

    Check build in sig.
I have one like the one you linked but got it for more like 10 bucks. Only time I ever have a problem is when it is cover with dirt and then rains and blurs the image. Used it below 40 all winter without a problem. You do get what you pay for so keep that in mind. I use it more in the summer anyways when hooking up the boat trailer and it works fine for that.

ill bump this while I search.
    What do you prefer?
wiring to the reverse light for power or the ability to have it on whenever you want?

I ended up getting a TaoTronics one off Amazon. Solid reviews so I figured why not.
It seems well built and of decent quality. Im going to try to get it in on Saturday. Shouldn't be too hard, gonna tap the reverse light wire in the taillight for camera power and ill connect to the red/white wire under the kick panel for the headunit signal.

Ill report back with a review of the camera.

Installed it yesterday. Picture is great in the day, it has the red/yellow/green field of view which is very nice. Haven't had to use it at night yet but I assume it will be good with the 6 led lights for night vision.

My only issue is with wiring. I had my deck and steering wheel controls installed professionally. So when I went inside the dash to get the rear view camera wire from the back of the deck they seemed to already have it connected and plugged into the factory harness with the wiring kit.
Because I saw that I did not think I needed the trigger wire.

So when I put the car in reverse with the camera setting on the headunit "on" the picture pops up and everything is great.
When I take it out of reverse the screen is just blank and doesn't switch back to my home screen.

I have a feeling that harness the trigger wire is connected to may be for the factory rear view option that does not exist on my truck. So it could be a dead end.

I am going to do a little research but I think im going to run a trigger wire to the red/white under the kick panel and see what happens.
    Ill have pics later

the trigger is off the reverse light wire down by the e brake. Also with my experience on that Taotronics camera is that when it gets col it's going to fail horribly

Its the red/white wire under the kick panel, I know.
I guess my concern at the moment is that it kicks on when I have the camera "on" but doesn't switch back to the home screen when out of reverse.

Do I assume the harness that the deck is connected to is a dead end since my truck never had a factory reverse camera and run the trigger wire anyhow?

I am going to try and reset the deck today and see what happens first though.
