Canadian Home Invasion

This is an old case (2007) but an interesting one by Canadian standards where you are technically NOT supposed to use firearms in self defense. However, this guy emptied a 25 mag clip (illegal in Canada) with his SKS-D on the fleeing bandits. Some were shot in the back (killing 3) while running 45 meters away from home.

there are some things that (shoud) transcend borders...

that is;

self defense is the most fundamental of human right

and

5 thugs trying to break into your home should EXPECT to receive a hail of gunfire!

...3 were DRT...

 

Well... I never, ever expected to see THIS come up on Tacoma World.

The issue in this case was some non-admissable evidence that was heard. That is why there is a re-trial.

Bishop was not released, nor has he been cleared of any charges. The circumstances of this case are such that I dont think he'll be cleared of anything.

He didn't simply defend his house.. he shot and killed 3 people.. one was executed with a round in the head after being wounded and crawling for the door, two more were shot in the back repeatedly while running away from the residence. Two more females were shot while they sat outside in a truck.

This was not a case of a group of thugs breaking into a law abiding citizens home, it was drug related. Thug on Thug violence. hard to create GOOD case law from this kind of incident.

On the flip side check out R v Ian THOMSON.

This is a REAL self defense case.. he was cleared of all charges. Three masked men came to his house with a firebomb, threw it on his porch and asked him "if he was ready to die". Thomson went upstairs, retreived his .38 revolver and shot 3 rounds in the direction of the men, but pointing in the air. They ran away.. he was charges with numerous offences, but was cleared of all.. Win.
