    Im getting there......
I have had my 2007 since it was new and I have 0 rock hits or chips (I have 102,000 miles) I haven't had a flat tire yet either.... The only rock hits I get are inside the wheel arches because my new tires (Michelin AT2s are great but they pick up every rock I run over).

My 2012's windshield was hit by at least 4 rocks in the first 3 months that I owned it. Two of them required a repair. At least they're not in the main viewing area. Most of that happened on the busy Freeway / Interstate. I avoid that when possible now and haven't been hit by a rock since! My 2011 F150 I had before the Tacoma got hit by two rocks on the Freeway / Interstate too. Morpheus told us to stay off the freeway...

It's the aerodynamics of the truck. Newer trucks are more streamlined thus heavy shit flys into the shield.

Between my sisters 97' Ford Explorer and my old 99' they have approx 27 years and 300k+ between the two and zero rock chips.

First 2 years and My Tacoma shield is destroyed to the point water gets through the cracks in the glass.

So far its been 8 months with my replacment Tacoma and I dont have anything but I do hear my shield taking hits. However my old Tacoma was not so lucky. I was doing about 80k and a dump truck doing about the same the other direction threw a rock at my shield and it EXPLODED!! I actually had a 3 inch circle of glass missing on the inside because it blew out everywhere inside the cab. The only thing left was the laminate sheet in the center of the glass. That was definatly a wake up.

That's exactly where I get nailed by the rocks...just the freeway.

I guess that makes sense...I figured it had to do something with the way the truck was designed as that never happened in my other vehicle nearly as often!

    Bummer dude!

No joke - today when heading from work to the gym another rock hit the shield and it actually cracked it. Guess I'll be calling the insurance for a repair. I hope I didn't jinx myself by posting this...lol. Glad to hear it's not just me!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Happens, mine's already got a assortment of chips on it, I made the mistake of removing my mudflaps for a few months and that really did a number on the quarter panels driving down gravel roads, I put em back on. Bugs have actually chipped the paint on my bumper, Toyota paint sucks.
