Hey guys, this is only my second post so please bare with me. I am not new to car audio and have installed a few different systems but this is new to me with the steering wheel controls and the bluetooth as well on the wheel. I just got my 2013 Tacoma and can't wait to start upgrading the electronics.

I am planning on a Pioneer or Alpine DVD touch screen (non-navigation). I'd like to keep both controls on the steering wheel (the bluetooth functions and the radio functions).

I'll make my question simple as I know the dash kit I need, and the wiring harness I'll need (possible an antenna adapter too)

    1. What module do I need to retail both factory controls on the steering wheel?
    2. What module do I need to keep the factory USB port that's mounted under the radio?
    3. What module do I need to get so I can have video on while driving?

I don't really care if it's a PAC or Metra product, I just want whatever it is that will work for what I need.

Once I get this figured out I'll get that going and start talking with Mr. Marv on box designs/amp racks and go that route. I'll be running at least 2 amps & Image Dynamic speakers (possibly JL or Alpine Slims). This is my first new car & I want that system I wish I had 10-12 years ago when I was 16-18. Now I'm older, and ofcourse have more $$$ to do this with so I want it done right.

Any help would be appreicated. I have searched and find the modules to use for the steering wheel controls, I just want to make sure the bluetooth/phone one works as well.

    Thanks guys!
    -Chris

Factory steering wheel controls, Metra makes a good kit for that.
Factory USB, you'll have to solder into your Deck or find a way to link it to the current deck.. With most double din's having USB I don't see the point of using the stock one.
Video on while driving, look on ebay for "Pioneer DVD bypass" or Alpine.. These tend to work with both manufactures. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PIONEER-AVH...564?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d769b954

As for subs.. JL's are nice, WAY over priced. ID subs are great as well as alpines. I went with Alpine Type -r Shallow 12 for a few reasons.
    1. I wanted to keep stock plastics on and fold my seats up and down still. That won't happen with ID subs.
    2. I wanted a 12 with an amp rack.. ID subs take about 1.20ft for a ported box which takes up the entire rear wall. No room for amps but under the seats which I refuse to do.
    3. The alpine type-r sounds almost as good as the JL, but is a hell of a lot cheaper.. got my Alpine on sale for 180$, can't find the JL w13w5 for under 400$.

I HIGHLY suggest Focal's for your Mid's and Highs.. I got the 30th anniversary editions, and I'm in love with them. Just make sure you push CLEAN power to them..

Pioneer AVH P 2400BT, powder coated wheels, fog light mod, tail gate anti-theft, Classio leather seat covers, light bar with KC off-road lights, rocker panel protection strips, bed compartment door locks, addl. bed "D" rings, window tint & floor mats.
I called Crutchfield (800)555-8211. I did not talk to a sales person, I went to tech support. Told them what I wanted and they made the recommendation to go with the Pioneer AVH-2400-BT. I got the wiring harness that worked with steering wheel controls. Use CAUTION. Make sure that you get the trim kit #12095821G and not the 120998214G. The difference is in the trim plate and the angle of the mounting brackets. I solder and heat shrink my connections, but using any type of friction connector will probably work OK. Crutchfield does not charge tax, shipping and will include the mounting kit for FREE. They also offer free return shipping and a 90 day return/exchange policy. The aVH-2400 will also let you hook up a back up camera if you want one. I bought the bypass relay for $10 bucks http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pioneer-Parking-Brake-Auto-Override-Bypass-AVH-P1400DVD-AVH-P2400BT-AVH-P3400BH-/150749090410 and wired it in as I installed the unit. My phone paired up perfectly. I installed the microphone to the left of the overhead console and it does not interfere with the sun visor or mirror. It has good sound resolution as well. The only thing this unit does not have is that it will not "speak" or write out a text message for you (I got spoiled in my 2011 Mustang), but you will get an alert that you have a text message by a tone. You will need to parking break bypass to use the onscreen phone dial pad. This unit will also play movies downloaded from the internet, MP-3s from a flash drive, and allow you to customize your background. Here is a photo I took while watching Green Hornet. Oh, this unit is $300, delivered. The only thing extra you have to provide is the wire connectors.

    Note the trim kit

P.S. This unit also has an "auto" dim feature (orange wire with white stripe on the harness), so what when you turn on your headlights, the main part of the screen dims (great for night driving), unlike the Pioneer FH-X700BT. I have factory speakers and the movies play in a more like HD sound. I highly recommend this unit for price, ease of installation and the entertainment experience.....but you have to get the parking break bypass (not through Crutchfield) or you will be limited as to what features work.

    Hi Chris -

What are you doing with your old (factory) unit? The reason I asked is, I cracked the touchscreen on mine, so I'm looking for a replacement ASAP.

PM me and we'll make a deal...

    Thanks.

    Tony

Hard to install? I'm ordering a pioneer from Crutchfield they say I'll have everything needed, I've got a 12 and it has the Bluetooth and steering wheel buttons. The guy I spoke with said I should have everything I need when I order. Just wanting to make sure it hooks into camera and by.
