I have a 2011 Tacoma 4dr long bed and am looking to make my mirrors heated I've heard that you can use a sienna mirror and a highlander heated mirror timer switch and its a direct fit.

I used snowmobile hand grip warmers and stuck them on the backside of my stock mirrors. Works great and only cost $30.

How did you do that and is there a timer or over heat shut off or do you have just a on/off switch

The only difference I had was that my mirror glass didn't have the sticky foam stuff on the back. It was only held in by the plastic so it was really easy. The biggest pain was running the wire through the doors.

The heaters that I bought had a hi and low setting. I set it to run on the low setting and it works great. Has been working for 3 winters so far.

edit: There's no timer and it's only on when the engine is running. That way it won't kill your battery if you leave it on and forget about it. I accidently left it on for a couple weeks before I realized that it was running all the time and it didn't damage anything. The only downside is that it doesn't heat the entire mirror. Only melts the ice off about a 3"x3" space which is the exact size of the heating element. So, if you do this method, use the biggest heating element you can find.

Using an actual Toyota heated mirror from a 4runner would be a nicer finished product. However, the cost is what swayed me to use the hand grip heater elements. Good Luck!

Toyota OEM mirrors have heating elements that cover the ENTIRE area of the glass.... warming pads don't.

For a faster and less risky job, using Highlander mirrors ($50 each) will snap right into your mirror's housing/motorplate with NO modifications.

The Sienna mirrors (same price) will not be as easy... you'll have to remove the backplate from EACH of the mirror's glass, adhere it in and install.

You got a few options, here's one that I chose...
