I need help with subs!!!

I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma single cab with a bench seat. I am looking to put 2 12 inch subs behind the seat. I've never messed around with speakers. I was looking to get 2 pioneer pro series 3500 wat subs and a boss phantom 5000 watt amp. I need some suggestions on how to build a box to work and how to wire up.

 

Those are great sub woofers for the price. I ran one of them in a ported box i built within specs of speaker in my Civic Si pushing 800 watts rms to it and it sounded really good.

To build the box you need to look up the specs of the speaker to figure our how much cubic feet of air they require then build you box based on that. I don't remember the equation, but you can look it up online to figure out what size box you can build that will give you the correct cubic feet of air for the speaker. If you build a box either to big or small and out of the range of the speaker it will sound like crap.

In my experience boss amps aren't that great. I have always gone with brands that are known to make quality products. As far as power goes for speaker or amp your not basing it off of peak watts you want to pay attention to RMS that stands for continuous power. If i were running two dual ohm sub woofers i would make sure i buy each speaker in dual 2 ohm and wire up each in 4 ohm. As far amp goes you want a class D amp with 2 speaker out puts and you will need something that will run the the speakers in 4 ohm at close or higher rms than listed per channel. This is the way i would run it there is other ways.

As far as wiring goes for install, you need to run you amp wire from battery to amp. For what you want to run use 4 gauge make sure you get good stuff that's actually 4 gauge. Then run your RCA sub woofer out rca and signal wire from after market head unit to amp.

I'm not into all bass like i was when i was in my teens. That's why i ran one in my civic it was just the right amount of bass, plus at that time i didn't want all that weight in the trunk. If you go with one subwoofer and put it in the right box you will probably fool a lot of people into thinking you have more than one sub.
