After totaling my 2006 PreRunner in January, I purchased a 2007 2WD drive PreRunner in early February. There has been a loud roar from the driver side front from day one. The good news is that I was able to use this to negotiate a better price on the truck. The sound went away when driving through right hand curves. This was "obviously" a bad bearing.

I planned to take on the bearing yesterday. I tore everything apart and went to remove the bearing locknut and found out that the 4-pin axle nut tool I bought didn't fit. I spent a few hours messing with it and finally gave up and decided I'd just need to order another axle nut tool. So I put everything back together and planned to start over next weekend. However when I take the truck out today, the roaring is gone. The only thing I noticed when taking everything apart was that the lug nuts were cranked down way too tight, but I don't see how tight lug nuts could cause roaring. Anybody have any ideas?
