Hi, I'm new here. Hopefully someone takes pity on me and offers some advice.

I am in the market for a new Tacoma and I'm trying to find one under $18,000.

We found a 2005 Access Cab TRD Sport (4x4, V6, 6spd Manual) with 83,000 miles on it, but it is 300 miles away. Listed at ~$18500. Only thing that is popping up as a red flag is that it is from New Jersey and it is listed lower than other comparable trucks within 300 miles. Shipped over to the PNW in October.

They came down to 17,500 pretty fast. Comes to 17,750 with fees, etc.

Kelly Blue book indicates that they truck should be closer to 16,000. However, these trucks do not stay available long and seem to fetch more than blue book on a regular basis.

    Thoughts?

Again, thanks for helping a new guy out.

5100 set to max, pending LSD and TRD CAI
KBB values these trucks high as it is; i would not pay that much for a 8 year old truck...

I would be very careful as a NJ car could have been a Sandy flood victim that is being re-sold. Hopefully Carfax or something similar would have the info

I'm in the market for a 05 or 06 Sport. They're a quite a few access cabs that are on the Internet for around 16,500. The double cabs with 80,000 miles go for around 18k. Here in north jersey.

Absolutely . I would never buy a vehicle of any sort without test diving it first.

A couple of months ago. I found a 06 TRD sprt DCSB. With 88k miles for $ 16.5k. It had TRD CAI and cat back exhaust . I drove it and it ran very good. Stupid me, not too good with negotiating deals tried to low ball them and they let me walk and never called me back. I wanted to pay 15k OTD and they didn't budge. This was on a Tuesday . I was thinking about the truck the whole week. Finally I call them to make another offer on the truck on Saturday morning and the salesman said," sorry the truck was sold lastnight. I'm still kickin myself.

I recently (August) bought the same truck, although it was an Offroad with 95k for 16k. It was one of the better deals I saw in the southcentral pa area. I talked them down from 17.5 and it had only been on the lot for a few days. But I would make sure to test drive it first and look for rust like others have said.

these days dealers put their best price on the net and only negotiate like 300-500 down if that. They know we are price shoppers and the lowest ones get sold first so they list them low and won't budge.

"you saw it on the internet and came based on the price, so will 4535 other people and one of them will buy it"

I would say too expensive... Im in WNC and drove 2.5 hrs to GA for an 05 Access Cab, 83k miles and I gave 14 for it... So I mustve gotten one heck of a deal. Had it for 2 years now, no problems, mechanic cousin went w/ me and we looked over it the best we could.

It's not a hurricane sandy truck, is it? That would be my biggest concern since you said it was from nj.

Finally got my truck. 05 DC TRD sport. I ended up paying $17,500 w/ 74k miles. I really didn't want to pay that much, but I really wanted my truck. I got it and I love it.
